Songs in the Blood 1 dec

On World AIDS day 2007, Saturday December 1st at 12 pm, the  premiere of “Songs in the Blood “. - a radio script written by 14 SA HIV positive and affected women will be broadcast on Radio Adelaide ( 101.5fm) .  The stories were written by women who are HIV positive and women who are mothers, sisters, partners and daughters of HIV positive people.

The women participated in writing workshops with Adelaide writer Elizabeth Mansutti. Elizabeth then developed the stories into the radio script “Songs in the Blood”. The script is being produced by Radio Adelaide ( producer Logan Bold) with funding from Arts SA.

The stories document  in a very evocative and powerful way the experience of living with HIV /AIDS  for women in Australia . We hope “Songs in the Blood” will promote the message that HIV/AIDS affects women too and increase understanding and compassion.

The broadcast will be podcast on Women’s health Statewide website and we hope to find the funding to enable us to develop the performance into a cd so that the message can reach a broader and ongoing audience.

Vale Tom Mitchell

Radio Adelaide’s much loved Jazz and Nostalgia presenter Tom Mitchell died peacefully in his sleep on Friday night.

Tom has been an enormously devoted member of our station team since he started with us 20 years ago this year.  An absolute gentleman, he was also a most wonderful broadcaster, with that special skill of talking to if it were only to you.  His love of his music and of presenting radio programs always shone through.  He was also a great support to other broadcasters and a genuine team player.

Condolences to family and friends…   RIP

SCHOOL OF TWO

In early 2006, Harry Whizkid found Jason Sweeney on one of those ubiquitous Myspace pages. The question was asked: do you like to collaborate? And the answer, of course, was yes. So the two boys got together in Jason’s inner west warehouse studio in Adelaide and began a kind of duet of sorts: Harry on piano, Jason on vocals. Soon the drum machines, synths, samplers and guitars came out and a handful of songs were written very quickly and the two knew that there was something special to pursue - and indeed, a School of Two began.

Listen into Fresh FM this Friday @ 10am to hear an interview with Harry Whizkid from School Of Two. LISTEN.jpg
