**** The Real Thing - state theatre company

The Real Thing by Tom Stoppard is a thinly disguised self-portrait of a writer who, through his life and work, struggles to make sense of that most elusive of human emotions, love.

This hugely entertaining play sparkles with wit, cleverness and acerbic humour. Its cutting and tender insights will follow you out of the theatre and deep into the night.
The Real Thing plays at the Dunstan Playhouse until 8 December.  Tix thru BASS 131 246 or outlets.

ART WEST 07/08

Bringing art to the West End of Adelaide
11 December 07 to 31 January 08
Launch: 6-8pm Tuesday 11 December 2007 at Dog & Duck Hotel, 125 Hindley Street, Adelaide. The opening speaker is The Right Honourable the Lord Mayor Michael Harbison together with Russell Starke OAM Greenhill Galleries Adelaide.

The West End celebrates the artists emerging from its very own doorstep.
Invigorating Adelaide's West End with a range of innovative artwork, up and coming artists, architects and designers will exhibit their original works as part of Art West 07/08 during December and January. The curated exhibition includes artwork by emerging artists from the South Australian School of Art and Adelaide Centre for the Arts (TAFE SA).
Curated by Karen Paris, the exhibition utilises shop windows, vacant spaces and businesses in the West End precinct to promote an artistic and creative community while building a network for artists and businesses of the West End precinct. Venues include: Tempo, Flightpath Architects, Phat Café, Mercury Cinema, Grand Chancellor Hotel, Bean Bar and the Dog & Duck.
“Art West presents emerging artists with an outstanding opportunity to cultivate exhibiting experience, and provides a public audience with the prospect of engaging with contemporary art in unexpected places outside of traditional white walled gallery environment,” said Art West 07/08 artist Michelle Rogers.
In late November a map of participating venues will be available to encourage visitors to walk the Art West 07/08 trail and indulge in an artistic experience that supports local artists and businesses. For more information go to www.artwest.com.au
