A New Sponsor for Vitalstatistix
“Public Trustee” means wills and estates to most people and it’s not so well-known that the Public Trustee manages the financial affairs of over 3,500 living clients, many of them with a disability. “Public Trustee” now also means Major Sponsor for the next Vitalstatistix show, Unspoken which portrays the challenges and the love in families with disabled children - one of the kind of families that the Public Trustee deals with on a daily basis.
Unspoken by Rebecca Clarke 5 to 8 July

CLASSICAL CHORAL MASTERPIECES - Adelaide University Choral Society 17 jun
The Adelaide University Choral Society is proud to present its major orchestral concert for 2006: Haydn’s triumphant Nelson Mass, together with Mozart’s youthful Litaniae Lauretanae (K.195).
The choir will be joined by a stellar line-up of soloists, featuring coloratura soprano Teresa La Rocca, who dazzled Adelaide audiences in the 2005 Bel Canto production of Lucia di Lammermoor, and Sally-Anne Russell, widely acclaimed as one of Australia’s finest mezzo sopranos.
AUCS is delighted to welcome both Teresa and Sally-Anne back home to Adelaide for this special concert. They will be joined by highly accomplished local favourites Tasso Bouyessis (tenor) and Andrew Turner (baritone).
An orchestra led by concert master Carolyn Lam will complement the choir and soloists in the beautiful St Francis Xavier Cathedral.
AUCS was formed in 1960 with students and staff from the University of Adelaide, and other singing enthusiasts from around the city. Earlier this year, AUCS hosted the national intervarsity choral festival (held in Adelaide about once every seven years).
The choir performs two or three full choir concerts each year, and has recently begun to extend its program to regional South Australia, with smaller group performances at Sevenhill and as part of the Coriole Live concert series in 2005.

Free and Fairer Trade: can trade be both free and equitable in a global economy? 6 jun
Free and Fairer Trade: can trade be both free and equitable in a global economy?
Jointly presented by World Vision Australia and AusAID
Speakers with very different perspectives will probe the thorny question of how to guarantee a free trade system with benefits for all. Mr Andrew Stoler, former Deputy Director–General of the World Trade Organisation; Mr Tim Harcourt, Chief Economist, Australian Trade Commission; and, Dr Patricia Ranald, Principal Policy Officer at the Public Interest Advocacy Centre, will discuss what is at stake, the barriers and the opportunities, and what is to be gained out of our global trade approach.
Among the questions to be probed are: How do the choices we make about what we eat and how we live affect the trade, livelihoods and wellbeing of poor people? What are the things we can do in everyday life to improve outcomes for the less fortunate in our global community? How is the Australian government involved in world trade negotiations and at the Doha Round of the WTO and what role are NGOs playing in influencing the decision makers? And what can developing countries do?
A Schools Alert Forum will be held prior to this event from 4.00pm – 5.00pm at the same venue. This is an informal session enabling senior students from schools around Adelaide to learn about and probe the issues raised. Students wishing to attend should register via the Hawke Centre web site or RSVP phone line.
