Art Exhibition launch by Chris Edser with special guest live band DELUSIONS OF GRANDMA
MONSTERS! MONSTERS! MONSTERS! Is a serious collection of portraits. Adelaide artist, Chris Edser has been drawing pictures of his friends consistantly over the last few years and finally they've found their way into an exhibition together. Chris has been involved in various arty projects in Adelaide and other places on planet Earth since last century. The most recent of these are probably SCREAMDANCE T-SHIRTS and QUENCH STUDIOS.

A sale of unframed artwork by Fran Callen will be part of the Mapping Us exhibition opening. Works in the art sale range in price from $5-$50.

Art & Heritage Collections are presenting a fascinating and exciting program of events for the 10th annual SALA Festival 2007 (3-19 August) ranging from a photographic exhibition, public art tours, a lecture by Artlab Australia's
director, Andrew Durham and artist talks by Frank Grauso.

A Cultural Illumination to launch Frank Grauso's photographic exhibition North Terrace will be opened by Tanya Court, Lecturer, Landscape Architecture, School of Architecture, Landscape Architecture & Urban Design,the University of Adelaide, will be held on Thursday 26th July from 4:30-6:00pm. Please come to the Ira Raymond Room in the Barr Smith
Library.

Frank Grauso is Art & Heritage Collections feature artist for SALA Festival 2007. He is an Adelaide-based painter, photographer and film maker. His photographic exhibition North Terrace, is open during library opening
hours from July 27- August 26 in the Barr Smith Library Foyer, North Terrace Campus.

On Friday 17th August at 2pm and Sunday 26th August at 12:30pm, Grauso will take part in Artist Talks, where he will discuss his passion for photography which embraces everyday objects and locations through a subtle and
understated lens.

This year's Cultural Oration is one not to be missed with Artlab Australia's Director, Andrew Durham, discussing the topic Conservation and the Artist's Intention. Durham will show examples of the conservation of modern art
works by Frank Stella, Marcel Duchamp and Francis Bacon to demonstrate the importance of understanding the materials and techniques of art-making; the traditional, the innovative and the idiosyncratic. The Oration will
take place from 6:30-8:00pm (including light refreshments after the lecture) in Lecture Theatre G04, Napier Building, North Terrace Campus. (please call anna on 8303 3086 or email on anna

On Monday 6th August from 1-2pm a Cultural Conversation on the topic of Scientific Illustration will take place between Jennifer Thurmer, scientific illustrator, graphic designer, editor and family and local history researcher; Annette Vincent, artist and scientific illustrator; and Archie McArthur, Honorary Research Associate, Entomology, South Australian Museum. The Conversation will be held in the Seminar Room, Barr Smith Library, North Terrace Campus.

You can take a tour of the public artworks by South Australian artists including Geoff Wilson, Greg Johns, Clifford Frith, Hossein Valamanesh and Johnnie Dady on the University of Adelaide, North Terrace Campus, on Tuesday 7th August at 10:30am and Thursday 16th August at 2:00pm. Please join the tour at the front of the Mitchell Building.
